Qatar Invents is an online learning workshop hosted by Texas A&M University at Qatar to provide an opportunity for high school students to explore the fundamentals of the engineering design process while learning from home.
Students from grades 9–12 will be tasked with coming up with novel solutions to serious problems while creating their prototypes using a 3D CAD software. Students will receive weekly online training sessions.
How can I participate?
The program is open to all students in grades 9–12 who reside in Qatar. Instruction will be provided via videoconference and an online learning platform. Only students who complete submission of the weekly tasks will receive a certificate.
How much does it cost?
The only cost is your time. Registration for Qatar Invents is open and free for all students completing grades 9-12 in Qatar.
What do I need?
You need a notebook, a computer, an Internet connection and a Google or Gmail account. Students will also need to download Fusion 360 by Autodesk. A free download link will be available upon registration.
What should I expect?
Qatar Invents is intended to let participants experience the engineering design process by tackling a real-world problem and creating an engineering solution to the challenge presented. Merging that with Creative Fusion, students will learn the necessary 3D modeling tools and features required to design their prototypes.
Expect lots of creativity — and lots of fun! The students will create a design solution to the presented project through a series of weekly online lessons and tasks.
