What is Qatar Invents?

Qatar Invents is an exciting program in which participants learn the fundamentals of the engineering design process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype and test. Students from grades 9–12 will be tasked with coming up with novel solutions to serious problems, building prototypes, and successfully defending their inventions to a panel of experts.

How can I participate?

Qatar Invents is open to students who are in grades 9–12 at any school in Qatar. Participants will be selected on a competitive basis according to applications and essays. But don’t wait to apply — applications must be submitted on or before 7 Dec. 2019.

How much does it cost?

Participants only need to pay a registration fee of QAR 100. This fee is paid after acceptance, but it is nonrefundable, even if a participant later decides not to participate in the program.

What should I expect?

Qatar Invents is intended to let participants experience the engineering design process by tackling a real-world problem over the course of one week. Expect lots of hands-on work — and lots of fun! Participants will work in teams to devise an engineering solution to the challenge presented. Participants will develop prototypes and replicas of their ideas, and they also will give a technical presentation to judges.

Applications are closed.
